Owner - Posten's Performance Inc.

About Me

I am originally from Toledo, Ohio but grew up in southern Michigan. I started working on cars with my dad's neighbors when I was a kid. We were always tinkering with something. My first car was a 1968 Pontiac Catalina that I bought from my dad when I was fifteen years old. I started fixing it up as soon as I got it! I started to realize that working on cars was a fun hobby for me. I followed this passion through high school taking auto shop classes. In fact, it was my high school auto shop teacher that got me a job at the local Chevy dealer, Dave White Chevrolet in 1981.

I have called Port St. Lucie home for over thirty years. I remember when Port St. Lucie Boulevard was two lanes wide, and street names were spray painted on posts in the ground.

It was at Bill Redditt Ford in Stuart, Florida where I earned my Ford Master Technician Certification. The dealership isn't there anymore, but I still keep in touch with some of my co-workers from that time. It's hard to believe that it has already been over twenty years since I started Posten's Performance! Times have changed and so have cars and trucks. Vehicles are more sophisticated than ever. Some of my off time is dedicated to ongoing training that keeps me up to date with the latest technology and service bulletins.

In my spare time, I enjoy fabricating things with metal, including welding. Did you know I built the Space Shuttle? The one on Gatlin Boulevard, that is. I love to see people's reactions when I tell them. It is parked across the boulevard from Walgreens. Originally it was a project for the church, then Realty Depot purchased it. Also, I like to go to the local racetrack when I can. I raced my 69' Nova at Milan Dragstrip in Michigan for many years when I was younger. I still have it, but it's been a while since it has seen the track.

I regularly attend church services at Calvary Chapel in Port St. Lucie. I've been involved with youth groups on various projects in the past. I think it's important to train up our children to be respectful, polite, and thoughtful young men and women. I currently attend a mens accountablility group, and my wife and I attend a couples small group at Calvary. My favorite Bible verse is Galatians 2:20 NIV. "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

My son, Walt, Jr. is a chip off the old block. Not only does he have my name, he has my talents, too. He teaches welding at Indian River State College.

Enough about me. Give me a call, so I can fix that car of yours! (772) 971-9258

For Walt Posten, working on vehicles has been a lifelong passion rather than simply a career. As the owner and technician behind Posten's Performance Inc., Walt has spent more than four decades developing his automotive knowledge, building relationships with customers, and keeping up with an industry that has changed dramatically since he first started turning wrenches.

Today, Posten's Performance Inc. serves drivers in Port St. Lucie, FL, with personal, professional auto repair backed by extensive hands-on experience. Walt is not simply the person who owns the shop, but he is also the technician working on your vehicle. That personal involvement allows him to take responsibility for the quality of the repairs and the experience customers receive.

Built on Experience and Personal Service

Walt's interest in cars began when he was young. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, and raised in southern Michigan, he spent time working on vehicles with neighbors and his father while growing up. His first car was a 1968 Pontiac Catalina, which he bought from his dad at age fifteen. Instead of simply driving it, Walt immediately began working on it and discovered how much he enjoyed repairing and improving vehicles.

He continued developing that interest throughout high school, taking automotive shop classes and eventually receiving help from his high school auto shop teacher in landing a position at Dave White Chevrolet in 1981. That early opportunity helped turn a childhood hobby into a lifelong profession.

After moving to Florida, Walt continued building his experience in the automotive industry. While working at Bill Redditt Ford in Stuart, he earned his Ford Master Technician Certification. More than twenty years after opening Posten's Performance Inc., he continues to invest time in training to stay current with increasingly sophisticated vehicle technology, manufacturer service information, and changing repair procedures.

What Customers Can Expect

The philosophy behind Posten's Performance Inc. is centered on straightforward service and treating customers the way a neighborhood repair shop should. Walt's approach is built around five key principles:

  • Honesty: Fair estimates and straightforward recommendations. We follow the maintenance recommendations in your owner's manual and do not recommend repairs or maintenance that are not needed.
  • Personal service: Owner-led repairs and direct communication.
  • Value: Dealer-level expertise without dealership pricing.
  • Experience: More than 40 years in automotive repair.
  • Accessibility: Direct communication with the person working on your vehicle.

That personal approach means customers are not simply handing their vehicle over to an unfamiliar repair facility. Walt remains directly involved in the diagnosis and repair process, with his reputation tied to every vehicle that leaves the shop.

A Longtime Part of Port St. Lucie

Walt has called Port St. Lucie home for more than three decades. He has watched the community develop and change over the years, from a time when Port St. Lucie Boulevard was much smaller and local street signs were simple markers along the road.

That long connection to the area has helped Posten's Performance Inc. become a neighborhood-oriented business rather than just another place to have a vehicle repaired. The goal is to provide the kind of dependable service that encourages customers to return and recommend the shop to people they know.

Beyond the Repair Shop

Walt's interests outside of automotive repair are just as hands-on. He enjoys metal fabrication and welding, and one of his memorable local projects was helping build the Space Shuttle replica located on Gatlin Boulevard in Port St. Lucie. His passion for performance vehicles also goes back decades. He spent years racing his 1969 Nova at Milan Dragstrip in Michigan and still owns the car today.

Family is another important part of Walt's life. His son, Walt Jr., has followed a similar path and now teaches welding at Indian River State College. The family's shared interest in working with their hands reflects a tradition of practical skills and craftsmanship that continues into the next generation.

Walt and his wife are also involved in their local Port St. Lucie community through church and small-group activities. His faith and commitment to family, service, and personal responsibility are important parts of the values he brings to his life and business.

Professional Credentials and Ongoing Training

Posten's Performance Inc. combines Walt's extensive experience with professional automotive credentials, including ASE certification, BBB accreditation, NAPA Auto Care affiliation, and Master Ford Technician achievement. Qualifying repairs are backed by a 24-month/24,000-mile warranty. As a Carfax-affiliated shop, Posten's Performance Inc. also records all repairs and maintenance on Carfax, giving customers a documented service history.

As vehicle technology continues to evolve, Walt understands that experience alone is not enough. Ongoing education and training help the entire team stay familiar with newer automotive systems, technology, and manufacturer updates so that decades of experience can continue to serve today's vehicles.
